Watercolor Landscape in Wake Forest NC

Living in North Carolina means I don’t have to travel too far to find a beautiful landscape to paint. I see this beautiful little pond every time I drive to my brother’s house in Wake Forest. Watercolors are great for landscapes, and I enjoyed painting this pond.

I’m still learning and getting used to the medium. I have to slow down and take my time as I paint each layer. Mistakes are very difficult too correct, and sometimes can’t be corrected. In this watercolor exercise, I experimented with some new techniques I learned from a couple Youtube tutorials.

My favorite part of this landscape was painting the sky. Charles Evens, an artist from England has some great painting videos. I call Charles, the Bob Ross of England, because he’s so enjoyable to watch. I learned a few simple techniques for painting dramatic clouds.
